By reading heroic books about the underdog overcoming all odds, dyslexic children, teens and adults can learn about the “attitude” part of resilience. Books like the “The Tortoise and the Hare” will teach youngsters not to give up until the race is over. A book like David Copperfield teaches the reader how a boy can overcome unfortunate circumstances and become more resilient during the process. The “Blonde Night of Germany” shows the reader that a pilot’s greatest weakness ends up being his greatest strength. Books like “The Millionaire Mind” and “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” will show you how many millionaires are average or “C” students. It’s important that all dyslexics read these books or other uplifting stories because they provide encouragement regarding overcoming the odds. There are many great stories that teach resilience as well as the importance of believing on oneself. By reading uplifting books, dyslexic individuals will gain confidence and become more resilient in the process.
